Public Bikeability Level 1 & 2

By filling out this form, I confirm that my child can cycle independently and can ride one-handed comfortably.

The service will be provided by National Standard/Bikeability trained cycling instructors.

Children aged 11 and over are eligible to participate (10 years old if training has been missed/not provided in year 6 at school), as long as they have a correctly fitting cycle helmet and a suitable bicycle and can ride it to the required standard of competency. (We have a small pool of bikes and helmets which can be borrowed by prior arrangement.) This aims to provide students with the skills and desire to continue cycling in the future.

This TWO-DAY session (the first morning in a traffic-free environment, the remainder on roads) will cover basic bicycle set-up and maintenance, use of brakes and gears, riding with one hand, slow riding and balancing, riding while looking behind, close control skills and cycling around obstacles. Participants will receive a hi-vis vest, lights, and magazine to keep, together with Bikeability Badges and Certificates upon completion.

Please ensure that the participants bring a packed lunch, drink, and any snacks they require.
